About Lexile® Measures for Reading

The Lexile Framework® for Reading makes test scores actionable by placing student reading ability on the same developmental scale as text complexity. When a student has a Lexile measure, educators and parents can personalize learning by matching students with more than 100 million articles, books and websites that have Lexile text measures.

Today, Lexile measures are recognized in the United States and around the world as the gold standard for helping students navigate the path to college and career readiness. Over 35 million U.S. students from all 50 states receive Lexile measures every year, and more than 65 popular reading assessments and programs and half of all state assessments report Lexile measures.

Lexile measures are also available for Spanish. El Sistema Lexile® para Leer provides its own developmental scale and measures to connect Spanish readers with resources at the right level of difficulty and in their native language.
